「本当に効果があるの？」
「どの成分を選べばいいの？」

この記事では、科学的な研究データをもとに、犬の関節サプリメントの効果と選び方について獣医師が分かりやすく解説します。

関節サプリメントとは？

関節サプリメントとは、関節の健康維持や変形性関節症（関節炎）の痛み緩和を目的とした栄養補助食品です。薬ではなく食品に分類されるため、動物病院だけでなく市販でも購入できます。

犬の関節疾患は意外と多く、英国での大規模研究では一般診療を受ける犬の年間有病率が2.5%と報告されています(1)。
また、8ヶ月〜4歳の若い犬を対象とした研究では、39.8%にレントゲン上の変形性関節症の所見が認められています(2)。大型犬だけでなく、小型犬でも膝蓋骨脱臼などの関節トラブルは珍しくありません。

科学的に効果が認められている成分

オメガ3脂肪酸（EPA・DHA）

魚油に含まれる EPA・DHAには強力な抗炎症作用があります。

78頭の犬の二重盲検試験では、魚油群で
・痛みの軽減
・体重負荷の改善
が有意に改善しました(3)。

90日後には体重負荷が平均5.6%改善した研究もあります(4)。

効果は用量依存的で、血中濃度が上がるほど関節症状が改善しました(5)。

効果が出るまで：45〜90日

緑イ貝エキス（PCSO-524・EAB-277）

ニュージーランド産の緑イ貝から抽出される海洋性脂質で、抗炎症成分が豊富です。

PCSO-524を用いた二重盲検試験では、8週間で
・獣医師による運動性評価
・飼い主による慢性疼痛評価
がいずれも有意に改善(6)。

EAB-277を用いた最新研究では、4週間・6週間で体重負荷が改善し、効果はカルプロフェンと同程度でした(7)。

副作用はほとんど報告されておらず、安全性が高いことも特徴です(8)。

• PCSO-524：およそ 50mg／10kg／日
※多くの国際研究の使用量に基づく
• EAB-277：製品推奨量に準拠（PCSO-524と同等量で使用されることが多い）

市販の「アンチノールプラス」などの製品では mg量が公表されていない場合がありますが、上記の“研究での目安量”を参考にしながら、体重に応じて推奨量を選ぶと良いと説明できます。

非変性II型コラーゲン（UC-II）

免疫調整によって関節の炎症を抑えるユニークな成分です。

UC-II単独投与した犬では
30日で痛み33%減少
60日で触診痛66%減少
120日で触診痛91%減少
という顕著な改善が報告されています(9)。

人の臨床では、グルコサミン＋コンドロイチンよりも効果が高いという研究も(10)。

グルコサミン・コンドロイチン

最も知られている関節サプリですが、データは賛否あります。

● 70日投与で有意改善した研究(12)
● 一方、最新の二重盲検試験では改善なしという結果も(13)

安全性は高いですが、「効く犬・効かない犬がいる」という理解が必要です。

サプリメント使用時の注意

効果はゆっくり

研究でも「数週間〜数ヶ月」が評価期間。
1〜2ヶ月は継続して様子を見ることが大切です。

痛みが強い場合は薬の併用も

オメガ3・緑イ貝エキスは NSAIDsと併用しても安全とされています(17)。

体重管理は最重要

肥満は関節症を悪化させます。
サプリより先に体重管理が有効なことも多いです。

定期的に獣医師へ

進行具合を確認しながら治療方針を調整することが大事です。

まとめ

犬の関節サプリメントは、科学的に有効性を示す成分も多く、
特にオメガ3脂肪酸・緑イ貝（PCSO-524／EAB-277）・UC-IIはエビデンスが豊富です。

サプリメントは早期から継続することでより効果が期待できます。
既に痛みがある場合は、食事・運動・体重管理・薬物療法を合わせた 総合的なケア が必要です。
